4 Thanksgiving Events in Phoenix for People Over 65

1. What We’re Thankful For

The Mesquite Library on Paradise Village Parkway will be hosting this holiday event on November 22nd from 6:15pm to 7:15pm. This Thanksgiving story time activity would be a wonderful bonding event for seniors and their grandchildren. Along with enjoying Thanksgiving-themed books and activities, they can also take turns talking about the blessings in their lives. 

2. Lifetime Turkey Day Phoenix

This 5K, 10K, or 1-mile run or walk takes place on November 24th beginning at 7:30am. It starts at the Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza in the south parking lot. Here, your loved one can register, drop off a canned good for the food drive, and grab some post-race food. This is a scenic, flat course many seniors will find easy and fun to conquer. It was specifically designed to allow runners or walkers an unhurried, unique way to experience downtown Phoenix. 

3. Give Back on Thanksgiving Eve

After services on November 23rd, the Desert Springs Bible Church is hosting this event at the Paradise Valley Family Resource Center from 6pm to 8pm. At this event, your loved one can help sort and package the food given during the Phoenix Food Drive. These goodie packages will be distributed to people in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. Participating in this event will make your loved one feel needed and useful.

4. Leftovers Run

This 5K or 10K run starts at 5802 East Indian School Road on November 26th at 8am. This marathon offers senior categories and a chance to burn off the extra calories your loved one consumed over the Thanksgiving holiday. After your loved one completes the race, he or she will be mailed a medal and a shirt. The course is marked by a professional management team, which will your loved one’s experience. They will also be hosting a runner’s brunch that includes bagels, fruit, and water.
